MountainOne Financial, Mechanics Bancorp Receive Aprovals To Merge

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — MountainOne Financial, MHC, the mutual holding company parent of MountainOne Bank, and Mechanics Bancorp, MHC, the mutual holding company parent of Mechanics Cooperative Bank, announced that all regulatory approvals required to complete the merger of the two mutual holding companies have been received.   The merger transaction is scheduled to take place on Jan. 1, 2026, at which time the newly combined mutual holding company will operate under the name MountainOne Financial, MHC, and will have approximately $1.9 billion in assets.   MountainOne Bank and Mechanics Cooperative Bank will continue to operate as two separate, independently chartered community

Home Modification Loan Program Assistance Available in North Adams

North Adams Council OKs Cruiser Purchase, Bids Farewell to Councilors

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The City Council on Tuesday approved the purchase of a new police cruiser.   The council authorized the transfer of $81,164.81 from the parking meter reserve account to purchase a 2026 Ford F-150 SuperCrew. North Adams Structure Fire Escalates to All-Call Freezing Temperatures

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A late-night structure fire required an "All-Call" response from North Adams emergency crews Monday, who faced operational challenges due to air temperatures near zero degrees.   According to North Adams 911, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Firefighters and emergency personnel were dispatched to 325 Walnut Street. Mass MoCA Welcomes New Tenant, Hosts Route 2 Study Reveal

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — There is a quiet dog at No Paws Left Behind looking for her forever home.

iBerkshire's Companion Corner is a weekly series spotlighting an animal in our local shelters that is ready to find a home.

Millie is over a year old and has been at the shelter for about a month. She was surrendered to the shelter after her previous owners had some family issues. 

Executive Director Noelle Howland introduced us to Millie, who is quiet and likes to lay down.
