North Adams City Council Sets Fiscal 2024 Tax RateBy Stephen Dravis, iBerkshires Staff 05:26AM / Wednesday, November 29, 2023 | | NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The average residential property tax bill will go up by $103.85 for fiscal year 2024 under a tax distribution plan OK'd by the City Council on Tuesday. On a vote of 6-2, the eight members in attendance chose to follow the path recommended by the Board of Assessors and use a 1.715 shift differential from the residential to the commercial class of real estate. CLARKSBURG, Mass. — The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9144 played Santa Claus on Sunday (with a little help from the jolly old elf) at the town's tree lighting. The post handed out nearly $10,000 in donations to worthy organizations. Santa arrived on a fire truck with the Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Department and was greeted with cheers but a large crowd of children. North Adams Police Hold Suspect on Firearms Charges07:44PM / Friday, November 24, 2023 | | NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The discharge of a firearm in the wee hours of Thanksgiving landed a man in custody over the holiday. Police say they responded to a "large fight in progress" at about 12:40 a.m. on Thursday at State Street Tavern.
