 To the Editor: I have a pit in my stomach this morning after reading about the decision against making Berkshire Towers a homeless shelter. I am utterly disappointed by Mayor Macksey, The North Adams City Council, Representative Barrett, and President Birge in your handling of this situation. You have all aided in the further traumatization of families seeking shelter. There will never be enough resources to support people who are unhoused until you all make it a priority to support those resources. Greylock ABC Fund Launches with New Grant Program08:00AM / Thursday, May 11, 2023 | | WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Greylock ABC Fund launched earlier this month with a renewed mission to support the educational development of students in grades pre-K through 12. The Fund, established in partnership with Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation (BTCF), maintains its focus on educational attainment for students of color while extending opportunities to students of low socio-economic status, and program support for multicultural and academic programs that benefit students of all demographic groups. City Woman Wins Hometown Holidays Gift Basket |

Jonathan Secor had some help in pulling the winning ticket.
Congrats to Janet O'Neill of North Adams who won the big Hometown Holidays gift basket on Thursday. O'Neill won some $1,300 worth of gift certificates and merchandise.
The drawing could be entered by spending $50 downtown during the Thursday night Hometown Holiday events. Jonathan Secor of MCLA Gallery 51 said 62 people had entered the contest (including the editor of iBerkshires &mdash amazing how much cat toys cost nowadays).
