Clarksburg Gets $1M MassWorks Grant for Middle RoadBy Tammy Daniels, iBerkshires Staff 05:17PM / Thursday, October 27, 2022 | | CLARKSBURG, Mass. — The bumpy ride down Middle Road should be alleviated next year thanks to a $1 million MassWorks Infrastructure Program grant. Gov. Charlie Baker announced the grant on Wednesday, part of the $143 million in grant awards disbursed in this round of which more than $12 million went to Berkshire County. Town Administrator Carl McKinney and Select Board member Robert Norcross has attended the announcement at Berkshire Innovation Center in Pittsfield. ADAMS, Mass. — The Board of Selectmen has approved the Nov. 15 special town meeting warrant, which primarily serves to appropriate an additional $2.37 million in funding for improvements to the wastewater treatment plant. The board met briefly on Wednesday to approve the warrant, with the Finance Committee voting to recommend it in a meeting shortly after. Article 1 would appropriate the funding for the plant, as the town's bond counsel requires an additional two-thirds approval from town meeting. The total amount realized by the sales to abutters was $3,077; the properties together were assessed at $64,500, though those assessments likely date back before the city took them when some had buildings on them. "I have been really working on focusing on getting as many parcels as we can back on the tax rolls," said Mayor Jennifer Macksey.
