Thunderfest To Go Virtual This Year04:00PM / Monday, February 22, 2021 | |
ADAMS, Mass. — ProAdams has made the decision to hold the tenth annual Thunderfest virtually this year on March 6.
“Our sponsors contribute to ProAdams, in part, to support our events in Adams," said Raymond
Gargan, co-chair of ProAdams. “But with the Coronavirus, our traditional gathering is just not possible. So, we've come up with an alternative idea. We're going virtual."
Thunderfest was held last year on March 7, six days before COVID-19 brought an end to large events in Massachusetts.
With this not being a possibility this year, ProAdams will stream Thunderfest via Facebook Live for free on Saturday, March 6 at 12 p.m. Festivities include performances by local musical acts Brian Benlien from 12 to 1 p.m., CJ Field from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and the Misty Blues Duo from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Drawings for gift cards will take place during intermissions between the performances and at the end of the concert. Gift cards will be redeemable at restaurants in Adams.
“The restaurant industry has suffered heavily due to the pandemic," said Gargan, “There is a lot of need out there, but our committee felt that we could provide some help to our local restaurants by purchasing dozens of gift cards and then giving them away to people attending the Facebook Live event."
All attendees who enter a comment or click “Like" or any of the other Facebook “Reaction"
icons will be automatically entered into the gift-card drawing. More details about the event are
“We will miss seeing everyone in person," said Andrea Berti-Stump, ProAdams event chair. “And we'll also miss some of our signature features such as the bonfire, great food, craft beer, interesting vendors and even our hay bale seating. But we won't miss the cold."
“Bolt" race organizers NE Rando Race Series also hope to host the ski mountaineering race on the Thunderbolt on Feb. 27. More information and registration can be found here. The race has been canceled in past years due to a lack of snow.
