Roots Teen Center Adds Two Board Members

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Board of Directors of Northern Berkshire Roots Teen Center added two new members.

Edward Bianchi is the director of college partnerships at IDEA Public Schools, a nonprofit charter school based in Texas. He has more than 20 years of experience in education, including past board work in Tennessee and Pennsylvania.

Michael Obasohan, a resident of North Adams, is associate director of college readiness and success at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, his alma mater. He has been in higher education advisory roles for eight years, including Academic Advisor positions. He serves on two additional boards in the community.

The Roots Board is responsible for analyzing and directing the mission, strategy and growth of the Teen Center, its staff, volunteers and services. Each board member also serves on a committee: Governance, Fundraising, Outreach or Grants. The board meets monthly, and coordinates it meetings with the RootsYouth Board, which is represented by eight youth members.

Bianchi and Obasohan join current board members Courtney Randall, president, from New Hope United Methodist Church; Lois Daunis, vice president; Criss Laidlaw, treasurer, from Williams College; Ashley Rice from New Hope United Methodist Church; Ashley Benson from a private psychotherapy office and Embracing GRIT; Ellen Janis from Commonwealth Financial Group; Randal Fippinger from Williams College; Dianne Olsen; and Christina Briggs, the Youth Board president.
