There's bad weather on the way.
The beautiful and downright balmy weather over the Berkshires will change in a big way mid-week as a "bomb" cyclone hits along the Northeast seaboard.

Accuweather says the latest indications are the storm will strengthen at a fast enough pace from Wednesday to Thursday to be classified as a bomb cyclone. The barometric pressure has to fall at least 24 millibars, or 0.71 inches, in 24 hours for the bomb cyclone criteria to be met.

Since winds on the front side of the storm are likely to be from the east or southeast, instead of the northeast for much of the mid-Atlantic and New England, it is not likely to be considered a true nor'easter. However, coastal region especially could experience high winds, tree damage, power outages and flooding.

The weather along the coast is expected to be so bad that Game 4 for American League pennant scheduled for Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium has been postponed a day.

The National Weather Service has posted a hazardous weather outlook for the Berkshires, Southern Vermont and eastern New York.

Expect a "widespread soaking rainfall" of 2 to 4 from late Wednesday afternoon into Thursday with brisk winds. The rainfall may become locally heavy and may cause flooding of low lying areas, and ponding of water on roadways. If confidence increases for the potential of widespread flooding, then a flood watch may be issued later Wednesday.

On Thursday, there will be more rain before noon, then showers later. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent and new precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Winds could reach 40 to 50 mph hour on Thursday so watch for a wind alert as well. What's good is that the temperatures will remain at least in the 40s so no worries of ice or snow.
