McCann Names Valedictorian, Salutatorian for 2019

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Emma Marino has been named this year's valedictorian and Megan Goyette the salutatorian for the McCann Technical School class of 2019, in an announcement by Principal Justin Kratz.
 
Marino, daughter of Joy Marino and Eric Marino is a senior in the Business Technology Program. She is the recipient of the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendent's Award for Academic Excellence,
the Rensselaer (N.Y.) Polytechnic Institute Medal and the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship and ranks first in her class with a 4.28 grade-point average.
 
Her rigorous course of study includes three years of Project Lead the Way courses that are above and beyond the required course load, as well AP Calculus and AP English, two summer college courses and is a member of the National Honor Society. Marino also is involved in many extracurricular activities including Business Professionals of America, School Council, Ambassador leader, Youth Advisory board, competitive dancing, varsity soccer, varsity basketball, junior varsity softball as well as her generous volunteer work.
 
Her many accomplishments include being nominated for Girls State in 2018 as well as being the recipient of numerous awards in Business Technology, SkillsUSA and Business Professionals of America. She will be attending Assumption College majoring in pre-law.
 
Goyette, daughter of Rebecca and Andrew Goyette, is a senior in the electricity program. She is a recipient of the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship and ranks second in her class with a 4.23 GPA. She is four-year varsity softball athlete, president of the school's National Honor Society chapter, vice president of the SkillsUSA Chapter, and a member of the Electricity Advisory Board. She also is a junior member of the board of PopCares Junior and is actively involved in fundraising for the cancer support group and for Meals on Wheels. 
 
She will be attending Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn., in the fall to major in nursing.
 
Both students will graduate with high honors on Wednesday, June 5, during ceremonies at the Amsler Campus Center at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
