CLARKSBURG, Mass. — The last day to register to vote in the town election and at town meeting is Wednesday, May 8.

Voter registration hours will be held at Town Hall on that day from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m.

Town election will be held on Tuesday, May 28, at the Clarksburg Senior Center on West Cross Road. Polling hours are noon to 7.

The annual town meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 29, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Clarksburg Elementary School on West Cross Road.

Voter registration and absentee ballot application may be found in the entry way to Town Hall. Absentee ballots will be available until noon on Friday, May 24. They may be obtained by filling out an application or by written request with signature. Please indicate if you want the ballot mailed or would like to make arrangement  to vote at Town Hall.

Voters will chose a slate of town officers at the annual town election along with voting on a Proposition 2 1/2 debt exclusion that will allow the town to borrow $1 million over five years to address town and school capital needs.

There are two races on the ballot for selectman and School Committee.

Karin V. Robert, who was elected last year to finish a one-year term, is running for a full three-year seat against newcomer Danielle Morgan Luchi.

For School Committee, Eric J. Denette and David B. Robert are vying for a three-year term being vacated by current Chairwoman Patricia Prengruber.

However, there are two offices for which no one has taken out candidate papers: a one-year seat on the Board of Selectmen to complete the term of Kimberly Goodell, who stepped down last year, and a one-year term for moderator, which had been held by Bryan Tanner for many years.

Running without opposition are David B. Robert for a five-year term on the Planning Board; Patricia A. Denault for a three-year term as library trustee; Michael G. Rivers for a three-year term on the Board of Health; Edward J. Denault for a three-year term as War Memorial Trustee; Ernest F. Dix for a one-year term as tree warden; Carol A. Jammalo for a three-year term as town clerk; and Richard J. Bernardi for a three-year term as representative to the McCann School Committee (Northern Berkshire Vocational Technical School District).

Ballot question reads as follows:

Shall the Town be allowed to exempt from the provisions of Proposition 2 1/2, so-called, the amounts required to pay for the bond(s) or note(s) issued by the Town in order to pay the cost to repair, replace, renovate or build roadways, culverts, and Town builds, including the payment of costs incidentals and related thereto?
