BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Ryan Carney scored a game-high 23 points Wednesday to lead the Bridgewater State men's basketball team past MCLA, 75-64.

The Bears sweep the season series as they improve to 6-13 overall but are now 4-3 in the conference.

The game was knotted up at 28 at half-time and neither team could create separation for much of the closing half. With the score at 54-53 in favor of BSU, the Bears (6-13, 4-3 MASCAC) rattled off an 8-0 spurt to take control. Admar Jaramillo started the run with a three pointer from the right wing and then Dimitri St. Louis scored five straight points to give the Bears a 62-53 lead with just 3:57 left.

MCLA's Gerald Herbert slowed the run with a triple from the top of the key to close within six, but Rayshon Ward converted a Ryan Carney feed to keep the Trailblazers at bay.

Mike Demartinis continued his strong play for MCLA (5-15, 1-7), ending with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Antoine Montgomery and Hayden Bird added 9 points each.

The Trailblazers will host Worcester State on Saturday at 3 p.m.
