Join us for the Annual Tree Lighting! On Wednesday, November 21 at 6 p.m. traffic will be routed away from the tree at Monument Square on Main St. (between the First Congregational and First Baptist Churches) where residents are asked to gather to count down the seconds until the switch is thrown and thousands of twinkling lights adorn the downtown.

As soon as Main Street lights up the Drury High School Band and Band Front will lead the way with festive songs for the North Adams Fire Department’s fire engine as it makes its way through downtown with Santa Claus. Santa and his helpers will bring gifts for the first 500 children.

The North Adams Office of Community Events is grateful to our sponsors Greylock Federal Credit Union, MountainOne Bank, Berkshire Bank, Cascade School Supplies, the First Baptist Church, the Drury High School Band, and MASS MoCA for their help in making this event possible.

This Fall - Parent Child Home Program

FREE Books and Toys for children 16 mo. to 3 years old this fall.  PCHP is a home visiting program. A trained Home Visitor will bring FREE books and toys for your child to keep.  They read, play, and do art activities with your child and you to help your child be ready to learn in school. Learn more about ArtWeek, a statewide festival that expanded into Western MA in 2018. Submitting an event is FREE, and a great way to get exposure for both organizations and individuals. ArtWeek 2019 will be April 26 - May 5.

North County info session will be held at MCLA’s Design Lab, located at 49 Main Street in North Adams. The session will begin at 8:00 a.m.

Info sessions will be held in Great Barrington, North Adams and Pittsfield on November 15th. Join us at one of these sessions, then help us raise the profile of arts and culture in the Berkshires during the 2019 festival.

Third Thursday Poetry at The Parlor Cafe features a monthly literary open mic which starts at 7pm. Door open and sign ups at 6:30.

All poets have approximately 5-8 minutes(or 2 pieces) depending on the evening. You are encouraged to bring poems, prose, lyrics, essays, etc, be it yours or written by someone else. This is a safe space, come use your beautiful voices!

The Northern Berkshire community will once again gather to discuss important issues facing our residents at nbCC’s monthly forum on Friday, November 16th from 9:30 to noon at The Green, 85 Main Street in North Adams. Join our community discussion about finding resiliency and hope while understanding the breadth and depth of life experiences.  Please note the date, time and location change of this forum. Here's what to expect:

1. Learn about trauma and the needs & opportunities to build resilience locally.
2. View a screening of the film, Resilience: The Biology Of Stress & The Science Of Hope.
3. Participate in a post-documentary discussion about building a trauma informed community.

The forum will begin with a round of introductions followed by brief announcements of your upcoming events or new projects. Please bring flyers about your events and announcements, as there will be a table available for sharing them. The forum will be held on Friday, November 16 from 9:30am to noon at The Green located at 85 Main Street in North Adams. Also note that the organizers of the Al Nelson Friendship Center Food Pantry at 45 Eagle Street ask friends who attend the nbCC forums to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the pantry. In year 10 of our 25-year exhibition, Sol LeWitt: A Wall Drawing Retrospective, “the most perfect union of contemporary art and architecture in the United States,” (Los Angeles Times) we celebrate with a series of artist talks, stories, and scholarly discussion, with a full day of activities punctuated by performances from artists whose work has been influenced by LeWitt.

10:30am: Symposium: In The Machine that Makes the Art? Interpretation, Collaboration, and Sol LeWitt’s Wall Drawings. Susan Cross, Mark Haxthausen, Anna Lovatt, and other LeWitt scholars will contribute.
