NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The visiting Salem State men's soccer team scored a 2-0 MASCAC victory over the MCLA Trailblazers Friday evening at Shewcraft Field.

The game was scoreless for most of the first half until the visitors caught a break. The Vikings (11-2-2, 4-1-1 MASCAC) finally broke through in the 40th minute when MCLA was whistled for a hand ball in the box.

The resulting penalty kick was taken by Lucas Amaral, who calmly deposited the ball into the lower right corner giving the Vikings a 1-0 edge heading into halftime. Salem owned a 12-5 shot advantage in the opening half of play.

Damon Deocleciano scored with just under five minutes remaining to put the game out of reach.  The goal was his second of the season.

Salem State's Gus Savage earned his first win of the season in net to improve to 1-0-1.  He stopped three shots in the win.
