NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- MCLA's Kayla Baker scored a goal and assisted on another to lead the Trailblazers to a 3-1 win over Johnson State at Shewcraft Field.

Taconic graduate Lauren Mangiardi got the scoring started in the 6th minute of play. She tallied her fifth goal of the season off a nice feed from Baker for an early 1-0 lead. Baker got her first goal of 2018 in the 12th minute as she ripped a shot from just outside the 18-yard box to increase the lead to 2-0.

The Trailblazers (4-8) added another tally just before halftime when Caitlyn Maloney knocked home a cross from Cetera Moore giving the hosts a commanding 3-0 advantage heading into halftime. MCLA owned a decisive 16-2 lead in shots over the opening 45 minutes of play.

Neither team would tally until the final seconds when NVU-Johnson was awarded a penalty kick.  Kelsey Cauchon knocked it home with just 40 seconds remaining to slice the lead to 3-1, but it was too little too late for the Badgers.

MCLA ended with a sizable 28-4 shot advantage over the Badgers. Hoosac Valley graduate Megan Richardson earned the win in goal for the Trailblazers.

MCLA is back in action on Friday night when it hosts Fitchburg State at 6 p.m.
