More about Cierra Fragale:
https://www.ciarrafragale.com/about

Ciarra Fragale is a singer/songwriter and actor from Montgomery, NY. Embracing performing from a young age, Ciarra picked up her first guitar at age six, and immediately found her second home between her hands. Listening to a diverse array of artists growing up (such as Joni Mitchell, Pat Benatar, and Bon Iver), Ciarra crafted her style of songwriting by blending the old with the new, giving her folk music a soulful, indie edge.

Ciarra began writing original music as a teenager. After honing her craft for several years, she recorded her first EP, "As We Go", at Adirondack Sonic Studios in October 2016. Riding on the EP's momentum, Ciarra wrote, produced, and recorded her full-length album "Seasons"(released April 2017). She has also made a name for herself as a composer for various theatrical productions. In the last year, the singer/songwriter has toured the Northeast, and has played acclaimed venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, and Putnam Den. A second LP is currently in the works for 2018.

More about Mike Martin:
Mike is a local MASS MoCA crew legend. And who knew he could rip up the Uke? He also frequent's Bishops lounge in Northampton, MA, providing Western Mass Folk with a taste of his favorite musicians.

Hardman Lecture: Maria Hinojosa
Church Street Center, Eleanor Furst Roberts Auditorium
413.662.5224
7pm
Free!

As a reporter who was the first Latina in many newsrooms, Maria Hinojosa dreamt of a space where she could create independent, multimedia journalism that explores and gives a critical voice to the diverse American experience. To that end, in 2010, she created the Futuro Media Group, an independent nonprofit organization based in Harlem, NYC with the mission to create multimedia content for and about the new American mainstream in the service of empowering people to navigate the complexities of an increasingly diverse and connected world. As the Anchor and Executive Producer of the Peabody Award winning show Latino USA, distributed by NPR, as well as Co-Host of In The Thick, Futuro Media’s new political podcast, Hinojosa has informed millions about the changing cultural and political landscape in America and abroad. Hinojosa is also Anchor and Executive Producer of the PBS show America By The Numbers, the first national television series to examine our country’s dramatic demographic shifts, and Humanizing America, a digital video series that deconstructs stereotypes about the American electorate. Hinojosa is also a new contributor to the long running award-winning news program CBS Sunday Morning, and is a frequent guest on MSNBC.

Conversation about Gentrification #2
Ashland Street Project Space, 50 Ashland Street
ashlandstreetprojectspace@gmail.com
7 - 8pm
Free!
for more information

Let's continue the conversation:
• are there different kinds of gentrification? for example:
--> the intentional displacement and destruction of whole communities (specifically people of color)

VERSUS

--> economic and "cultural" development—with the intention of lifting a community out of impoverished depressed conditions—inadvertently leads to the displacement of lower income residents
• can gentrification be simply summarized as the displacement and disenfranchisement of a group of people, due to race and/or class?
• what are your hopes for North Adams? what do you love about your community?
• with respects to economic development and "rural gentrification" what are your fears/concerns regarding displacement, further economic disparity, inclusion, etc.?

Feel free to post YOUR OWN questions/thoughts/concerns to this page, or email ashlandstreetprojectspace@gmail.com for your words to be posted anonymously.

A zine is (still!) forthcoming... if you'd like to contribute—credited or anonymous— please email your submission to ashlandstreetprojectspace@gmail.com. Your submission can be anything! An essay, a drawing, a picture, a sentence, a word... anything that relates to how you see your community changing.

Singing her precise, often revelatory, lyrics with a warbling wild voice that blends Dolly Parton and Patti Smith, Olsen swirls sun-kissed dream pop and brooding garage rock into something whole, impressionistic, and new
