Drury High School Names Valedictorian, Salutatorian for 2018

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Drury High School has named Cady Aileen Denning and Allison Zoito as the top students for the class of 2018. Both will speak at the graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 7, at 7 p.m. in the high school's gymnasium.
 
Denning, daughter of Donna Brule Denning and of Mark Denning, both of North Adams, has been named valedictorian for the Class of 2018.
During her time at Drury, she has taken a full honors course load including five Advanced Placement courses as well as a dual enrollment course offered by Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. She has been inducted into both the Nu Sigma and the Pro Merito honor societies and has received several awards including the Sage Book Award. She will graduate with an overall grade average of 97.6.
 
She has been extremely involved in her school and community. She is a dedicated dancer at Studio North Dance Arts, taking six classes per week as well as working as a teaching assistant in three other classes. She is a four-year member of band front, has volunteered at Clarksburg Elementary School as a peer mentor for younger students and also volunteers regularly at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish. 
 
Denning has been involved in Drury's musical productions, was a volunteer at ROPES camp and serves as a peer mentor to eighth-grade students. She has a very active role in Drury's Student Ambassador program and was chosen as a group leader to train elementary school students as well as a group of her peers. 
 
She wants to pursue a career in nursing and will be attending Elms College in the fall.
 
Zoito, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeremy Zoito of North Adams, is the salutatorian for the Class of 2018. She has been involved in many activities at Drury and in the community. She has been inducted to both the Nu Sigma and Pro Merito honor societies and received the Principal's Award every year for high achievement. She has been a member of Drury's band all through high school and is currently the band president and section leader for the flute section. 
 
She was a member of the Massachusetts District Attorney Youth Advisory Board for the past two years. She also participates in the Math Club and Spirit Club. 
 
Zoito's plans are to attend St. Michael's College in Colchester, Vt., and major in business administration.
