TRAINING DAY is a 120minute interactive performance that replicates and deconstructs diversity discourse through participatory attempts at transformation created and performed by the Diversity Fellows, with assistance from MCLA Student Pedagogues, and YOU!
WHO ARE THE DIVERSITY FELLOWS!?
DIVERSITY FELLOWS! is a critical camp collaborative interested in interrogating aspects of (their) Americanness. Aimed at blurring the lines between performance, politics, and the presentation of self in every-day life, the FELLOWS use race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, and more as both lenses and performed identities to produce genre-blurring pieces that refer to pop-cultural tropes, critical theory, and queer performance tactics, creating chaotic environments out of seemingly simplistic interactive structures: Green card interviews, diversity workshops, make-up appointments, karaoke. |

“What Am I Going to Eat?,” a book discussion group starting on January 31 at 2 p.m. Facilitated by local resident Kathy Carbin, the group will begin with a reading of Michael Pollan’s “In Defense of Food : An Eater’s Manifesto.” Pollan’s book is anchored by his timely advice, “Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.” This entertaining and informative book gives readers the science and philosophy behind a plant-based, sustainable diet. Copies will be available at the library. Carbin plans to follow with another book in late February. For that month she’s chosen Chris Kresser’s “The Paleo Cure”. Both books examine the effect of a generation of confusing dietary claims and the increasing “modification” of dietary staples like grains and meat proteins. If you are curious about diet and disease, this book group will set you on a path to better health.

The Whiskey Treaty Roadshow produced a Nationally acclaimed Short Music Documentary which was accepted into 17 Film Festival across the country, and 5-time recipient of 'Best Short Documentary' Awards. The Documentary has lifted the message of collaborative music in Western Massachusetts to a national audience, and propelled the band into regional tours and showcases including supporting acts such as the Indigo Girls, The Felice Brothers, The Adam Ezra Group, Deertick,The Novel Ideas, house band performances at the New England Whiskey Festival and the Whiskey Washback at New York's Bowery Hotel three years running. The Treaty's boot stomping collective, 5-part lyrical stylings, and shared approach to folk music speaks to audiences young and old, with sing-a-long performances bringing people together in raw emotion and enjoyment. |

Alisa Dworsky Exhibtion Installation
