Power Still Out In Parts of Downtown North AdamsBy Jack Guerino, iBerkshires Staff 05:19PM / Monday, November 06, 2017 | |
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — National Grid is estimating that full power will be restored in the downtown around 8 p.m.
The electric utility has been working throughout the day Monday repairing an underground wire that malfunctioned and caused outages on the south side of Main Street, the Ashland Street area and the Oasis Plaza.
The North Adams Police Department reported that the outage has affected traffic lights in the downtown area.
Mayor Richard Aclombright announced earlier in the day on social media that he has been in contact with National Grid throughout the day and was told the repair would take a minimum of eight hours.
MCLA Gallery 51 and the Berkshire Cultural Resource Council offices were closed because of the power outage. iBerkshires briefly lost power twice during the day but remained open.
Workers have had a manhole outside the iBerkshires offices open all day and were working on a transformer box in the back parking lot.
According to National Grid, the repair began at 8:33 a.m. with an estimated restoration at 8:15 p.m. Sixty-six customers have been affected by the outage.
