FITCHBURG, Mass. -- MCLA's Kaylyn Holliday converted in the 35th minute and Trailblazer goalkeeper Megan Richardson (Hoosac Valley) pitched a shutout in leading the women's soccer team to a 2-0 road win over Fitchburg State in MASCAC action this afternoon.

The win marked the third straight for MCLA as it improves to 3-8 on the season and 2-3 in the conference. The Falcons drop to 4-11 overall and are 1-5 in the MASCAC.

Holliday's goal came off a nice feed from Hannah Van De Water for the 1-0 edge. The goal marked the second straight game that Holliday has tallied as she led the team in scoring a year ago. The score remained that way into the half as neither team generated much offense.

In the second half, the Falcons had some chances, but Richardson was outstanding as she turned away eight shots to earn her third win of the season.

MCLA added an insurance tally in the final 20 seconds of play to secure the victory when Shannon Prouty scored her first collegiate goa.

The Falcons held a 16-11 shot advantage but just a 3-2 mark in corner kicks.

The Trailblazers will seek their fourth straight win on Tuesday when they head over to face Albany College of Pharmacy.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The MCLA volleyball team outlasted the Bridgewater State Bears 3-2 to earn a MASCAC win this afternoon.

The Trailblazers (7-14, 2-3)  took the opening set 25-20 before the Bears (4-16, 2-3) won the second 25-19 to even things up. The Trailblazers took the third set 25-19 before BSU forced the deciding set with a 25-23 win in the fourth. In the deciding set, MCLA handled BSU 15-11 to claim the win.

Brooke Queripel led the Trailblazers with 16 kills on 44 attacks. Brianne O'Rourke filled the stat sheet with eight kills and four blocks. Natasha Stewart collected 25 assists while Taylor Wiese notched 15. On defense, Mele Enomoto had 19 digs while Michelle Laga added 10.

In the deciding set, MCLA held a slim 12-11 lead before rattling off the final three points to win the match. Queripel started with a kill and when Maggie Allen added her eighth of the day, it was match point. An attack error from the Bears clinched the win for MCLA.
