CYNTHIA-REEVES is pleased to announce an upcoming exhibition of Steven Siegel's new work '35 Pieces'. The project consists of 35 panels that were created to become a moving and shifting movie set. The film will be available for viewing in the gallery, as well as all 35 pieces. The artist will be available during the event to answer any questions or inquiries about the work.

Steven Siegel’s works consistently push the boundaries of how we view the detritus of our day-to-day life. His works are created from recycled materials such as newspapers, aluminum cans and plastic bottles, which he recasts into site-based or landform sculptures. Wanting his biodegradable sculptures to have an impact on their surroundings, his works also challenge us to look again at how these discarded elements can be recast into meaningful and documentarian sculptures.

Spirited Train Rides - Do you believe?
Responding to guest feedback and interest in a paranormal themed event for the fall season, BSRM will offer an event unlike any other offered before: BSRM will host Spiritualist Minister, Author and professional psychic-medium Julie MacDonald for Spirited Train Rides. Many investigators have come from far and wide to investigate paranormal activity in the Hoosac Valley. On Saturday October 14 th and 21 st , guests will now have an opportunity to investigate themselves with Julie’s help. Passengers will climb aboard BSRM’s vintage Budd Rail Diesel Car and learn how to tap into spirit energies with their body and other senses on the ride to Southview Cemetery in North Adams. Southview Cemetery, founded in 1888, is a beautifully designed Victorian style cemetery that transports visitors to a by-gone era and has been visited and investigated by many paranormal investigation teams. Trains will depart promptly at 5:30 pm. Upon arrival at Southview, patrons will detrain and take a walking tour through the cemetery (which is in the shadow of the Hoosac Tunnel) with Julie as their guide. They will also have the opportunity to see and/or feel the energy of spirit around them with Julie’s guidance. Information and messages from the world of Spirit will be delivered as it is given to Julie.

This experience is part train ride and part walking tour and will last approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours. Approximately one hour will be spent outdoors; please come prepared for any weather. In the event of severely inclement weather, Julie and patrons will ‘tune in’ to the cemetery and spirit while staying in the protective covering of the passenger car. Tickets are $40; (no restrooms are available on train or at cemetery).

Beatriz At Dinner: Free Admission
Images Cinema, 50 Spring St, Williamstown
(413) 458-5612
7 - 8:30 pm
Free
for more information

This perfectly honed chamber drama from director Miguel Arteta and writer Mike White—their third collaboration together—begins as a squirmy dinner-party-gone-wrong comedy and expands into something much more soulful and timely. Salma Hayek Pinault plays Beatriz, a Mexican-American holistic healer who is invited to stay on for dinner by her wealthy client and avowed friend Cathy (Connie Britton) when her car breaks down down the road. She finds herself breaking bread with Cathy’s husband’s business partners and their wives. The alpha male at the party is billionaire developer Doug Strutt (Officially John Lithgow, playing against certain obvious connotations with a chilling assurance). As the cocktails multiply and the one percent rejoice in world domination, the earnest Beatriz enunciates an alternative view. Immediately personalities clash, as do sociopolitical beliefs, as indignant Beatriz and imperious Doug face off in what might be the longest evening of these L.A. residents' lives. This socially charged black comedy candidly deals with race, immigration, class, and other issues particularly relevant in this current politically heated age.

Presented by the Williams College Davis Center as part of their ongoing Social Justice Film Series.

At this workshop, presenters from the Berkshire Immigrant Center, MIRA and CWJC will offer detailed information for local immigrants on their rights and on the legal resources available to them. The workshop will also offer information on the changes to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program (DACA) recently announced by the Trump Administration.

As a follow-up to this workshop, BIO will offer a Spanish-language community organizing training on Monday, October 23rd, from 6:00-7:30 p.m., at St. Stephen’s Church in Pittsfield, to teach immigrants about community organizing, and how they can use it as a tool to raise up their voices and to help their community.
