She will present the story of her 16,000 mile journey across the United States with 120 fragile yellow tea bowls which lead to the creation of her freedom from fear/yellow bowl project. North Adams Open Studios is a FREE annual event where participating residents of the Eclipse Mill Artist Lofts and invited community members share their artwork and their homes with the public.

This event offers an exciting window into the creative process. Accomplished artists will have their work on display in the hallways, studios, and gallery at the Eclipse Mill. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet and engage the artists, as well as purchase work directly from them.

WHAT TO DO:
FIRST! Stop down at ROOTS Teen Center to purchase your tickets to use for activities and raffles. Activities will be located in different storefronts throughout Eagle Street and the general downtown area. You will find a list of activiites, where they are, and how much they cost. Most activities will cost 1-5 tickets. Tickets are $1 each.

A group of poets came together in the Fall of 2015 at a Tupelo Press/MASS MoCA residency. On their last afternoon, they held a poetry reading in The Boiler House on the MASS MoCA campus, against Stephen Vitiello’s soundscape “All the Vanished Engines.” With that reading, The Boiler House Poets were born. The group returned for a residency in 2016 and will return in 2017. Members come from Arizona, Colorado, New York, and New Hampshire. They will hold a final reading October 4th at Makers Mill in North Adams. Refreshments will be served.

The North Adams Farmers Market provides its customers with fresh, quality, locally grown produce and products in a safe and fun environment featuring dozens of local farmers, food producers, artisan and weekly musicians. The market is located in the St. Anthony Municipal Parking Lot, at the intersection of Rte. 8 (Marshall St.) and St. Anthony Drive.

We proudly accept SNAP/EBT, credit cards, debit cards, WIC & Senior Coupons. The North Adams Farmers Market believes that eating healthy is a cornerstone of a healthy community and healthy local food should be accessible to everyone. Our SNAPx2 Program provides matching funds to double every SNAP/EBT benefits spent at the market. In 2015, the SNAPx2 Program resulted in over $10,000 worth of fresh local food in the homes of low income families in our community.

The Farmers Market is sponsored by Greylock Federal Credit Union, Berkshire Health Systems, Adams Community Bank, MountainOne, Mass in Motion, the City of North Adams, and the Farmers Market Coalition.

We're also doing a version of the North Adams Project that offers grant opportunities (up to $4,500) for current NA artists and those planning to relocate by mid-2018. 
 
Please help us spread the word by sharing our email announcement (below) and our FB posts with your North Adams (and would-be North Adams) artist friends & neighbors. The deadline to apply is October 9. Applications are open to artists in all disciplines & financial circumstances (though preference for grants will be given to artists who meet low-income criteria). A4A artists are welcome to apply for workshops or (if you're an alum) a second round of the matched savings program.

Be part of a new figure drawing collective starting up at Makers’ Mill. Sessions will run every Monday and will focus on long poses, and include a warm up consisting of several short poses. We’ll be bringing in local models and a local, figure drawing instructor who will drop-in as available. Get in at the ground level to shape the direction this collective takes. Bring your own lap board, paper, pencils, and creative energy!

Alan Franco and Berkshire Salsa are bringing to you Conjunto Barrio, a professional Salsa Band who has perfomed in some of the very best international salsa and latin jazz festivals and has also been awarded with 3 mentions on the 2014 Latin Grammy Awards for their album "Ya Llego Conjunto Barrio", "Somos Del Barrio". We will hit the dance floor for a fun bachata lesson, then dance the night away to live music by Conjunto Barrio, and one of our favorite local DJ, our friend Ian, DJ Redscare.

Conjunto Barrio will be playing mainly Salsa, and a little bit of Merengue, Cha-cha, and Cumbia. DJ RedScare will spin Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cha-Cha, Rumba, Samba, Doble Paso, Kizomba, Cumbia, and, after midnight, they will add Raeggeton and Dance Latin music to the mix!

This event will take place at the gorgeous ITAM Lodge right on Pontoossuc Lake! Family and Kids are welcome - no kids running around though ;-) There's a cash bar and an ATM on site.

50th Annual Greylock Ramble

Each Columbus Day for the past 50 years, thousands of people have made the hike to the highest spot in Massachusetts. This year, for the 50th Annual Ramble on Monday, October 9th, a special memento of this year's hike will be available at the summit.

Free shuttles take hikers from downtown Adams to and from the base of the Cheshire Harbor Trail from 8 am to 4 pm. Use of the shuttle is strongly recommended, as parking near the trail is very limited.

The Greylock Ramble takes place on the Cheshire Harbor Trail which is the gentlest path to the summit. However, the round trip is 6.6 miles, moderately strenuous and takes four to five hours. There are refreshments and souvenirs available for purchase at the top, but the hike itself and the spectacular views are free!

For all Northern Berkshire families with children ages 2-5 years old. Help your child get ready to read. Learning to read begins before children start school. Learn how to help your child get ready to read with simple activities. These parent and child workshops are for families with children ages 2 to 5 years old. A collaboration with the Cheshire Library.

Each family who attends the workshops will receive: A “Ready to Read” tote bag filled with free books and other fun “Ready to Read” materials to use at home with their family. “Every Child Ready to Read” was developed by the Association for Library Service to Children.
