NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The MCLA men's soccer had three different players find the back of the net as it cruised past visiting Massachusetts Maritime Academy 3-0 Friday evening in MASCAC action at Shewcraft Field.

With the win, the Trailblazers snap a four game slide and are now 3-7 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Buccaneers drop to 2-7 and are also 1-2 in the MASCAC.

Both teams came out firing in the first half, but ultimately MCLA found the net in the 10th minute. After a foul on MMA (2-7, 1-2) at midfield, Ryan Wanek would loft a ball into the box. It bounced over a Maritime defender and there waiting was Hoosac Valley graduate Colin Rousseau.

Rousseau headed home the ball past MMA's Mike Pruchnik for an early 1-0 lead. The marker was the first in the career of the Cheshire native

The score remained 1-0 at halftime even though the visitors outshot MCLA 15-3.

The Trailblazers added to the lead in the 60th minute. MMA committed a foul in the box giving the hosts a penalty kick. Trailblazer senior Oscar Castro was called upon and he calmly sent the ball into the lower left corner for a 2-0 edge.

MCLA rounded out the scoring in the 72nd minute when leading scorer Romeo Grey tallied. He was the beneficiary of a loose ball in the box and he slipped a shot past Pruchnik making it 3-0. It was his team-leading third goal of the season.

Maritime had chances throughout, however MCLA keeper Kamron Anderson would keep the zero on the scoreboard. He stopped eight shots to earn the shutout and the win.

While Maritime outshot MCLA 27-12 in the game, it was only 12-9 in the pivotal second half.

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -- Madison Taylor scored a pair of goals, including the eventual game-winner with 5 minutes, 26 seconds remaining in the first half, to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 2-1 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer victory over MCLA.

The win enabled the host Buccaneers (3-4, 1-2 MASCAC) to end a 65-match conference winless streak that dated back to September 2008.

After the visiting Trailblazers (0-8, 0-3 MASCAC) grabbed a 1-0 lead just 5:27 into the contest, Taylor's penalty kick conversion in the 23rd minute evened matters and her school-record setting 12th tally of the season from 10 yards out to the left of the cage proved to be the golden goal for Massachusetts Maritime.

MCLA had taken the early edge when senior Aleah Sangiovanni of Pittsfield, converted a feed from freshman Caitlyn Maloney on a breakaway, and the visitors had a pair of chances to knot the score in the closing 15 minutes of play that included a deflection off the top off the crossbar but were kept at bay.
