The husband-and-wife team of Bernie Pinsonnault and Dianne Cutillo of Adams are the co-chairs of the Northern Berkshire United Way campaign.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Northern Berkshire United Way has announced that the co-chairs for its 2017-2018 annual campaign will be the husband-and-wife team of Bernie Pinsonnault and Dianne Cutillo of Adams.

"When I started my business career in Adams in 1974, Northern Berkshire United Way was the premier fundraiser for many local nonprofit organizations," Pinsonnault said. "In recent years, donors have many choices besides United Way where to make their annual contributions. Dianne and I hope to bring back recognition of the critical role United Way plays in the community through our service as co-chairs of the upcoming campaign."

"I look forward to helping Northern Berkshire United Way raise critical funds for the 20 member agencies that serve our families, friends and neighbors with needs ranging from early childhood education to elder services and financial stability to physical and mental health, to name a few," Cutillo said.

Cutillo is proprietor of Cutillo Communications, LLC. Before establishing her consulting business in 2015, she served as a marketing, public affairs, or development executive or manager at Cooley Dickinson and North Adams Regional hospitals and Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Previously, Cutillo was a journalist at The Berkshire Eagle and editor and publicist for Storey Books. She is a member of the Adams Lions Club and chairs the Berkshire Arts and Technology Charter Public School's Board of Trustees.

Pinsonnault is president and owner of Smith Brothers-McAndrews Insurance Agency, Inc. Before joining the independent agency in 1990, he was an executive at the former Adams Cooperative Bank, now Adams Community Bank, for which he serves as a trustee. He is a member and director of the Adams Lions Club and serves on the boards of the Adams Retirement Board, Berkshire Community College Foundation, and Berkshire Fund. Previously, he served as treasurer and a board member of the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Foundation. In 2009, he received the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce's Francis H. Hayden Award in recognition of his civic and community leadership and, in 2011, the Adams Lions Club's Fred H. Couture Award for service above self. Pinsonnault is a Lions International Melvin Jones Fellow, recognition for humanitarian work.

Both Cutillo and Pinsonnault have previously served Northern Berkshire United Way, as volunteers during the annual process of allocating funds to member agencies.

"Bernie and Dianne are exceptional leaders, and we are thrilled to have them leading our campaign," said Christa Collier, executive director of Northern Berkshire United Way. "Bernie brings years of experience and knowledge from the insurance and business sectors, and Dianne brings all of her communications and marketing skills. It's an incredible combination, and I know they will be highly effective in mobilizing the community to support our mission to improve lives and community conditions."

Money raised through the annual Northern Berkshire United Way campaign is distributed only in the Northern Berkshire area, funding 20 member agencies that provide services focused in four impact areas: Education, Health, Financial Stability and Safety Net. Community volunteers make recommendations about how to allocate the money raised through the annual campaign. The campaign will kick off on Oct. 6 with a breakfast at the Williams Inn in Williamstown.
