Join us downtown for the 7th Annual Motorama event! Last year’s event brought over 500 vehicles to downtown North Adams and we expect even MORE this year!
Join us the day before the big show for the swap meet and stay the evening for a drive-in movie starting at dusk.
The main car show is Sunday, Aug. 27th, but various events are planned for the weekend, including a Swap Meet in starting Saturday, August 26th and running through to the big car show on Sunday. The Swap Meet will offer dozens of vendors, food, and a car corral and will be located in the Center Street parking lot behind the MountainOne building.
On Sunday, Main, Holden and Eagle Streets will be closed to all but pedestrian traffic as downtown North Adams fills with cars, trucks, motorcycles, snowmobiles, tractors and more! Anything with a motor is welcome!

Co-Curated by Gail & Phil Sellers of River Hill Pottery and Arthur DeBow of Gallery 51 this group exhibition showcases unique drinking vessels by studio potters in the Berkshires and throughout the country. 'I’ll Drink to That' underscores the aesthetic and technical diversity of contemporary American ceramic artists that create high-end functional yet exquisite objects. The ceremonial tea bowls, wine cups, whisky glasses, steins, chowder mugs and other vessels on display will demonstrate a variety of clays, glazes, and firing processes. 'I'll Drink to That' will be on view at the Eclipse Mill Gallery in North Adams from August 5-27, 2017. The gallery will be open Thursday-Sunday from 10am-5pm and by appointment. 2017 marks the 21st year of North Adams’ Annual Downtown Celebration!
Performances by JP Murphy Band, Terry A La Berry and Friends, and Trio Candela! Magicians, balloon animals, hula hoops, games, giveaways and more! This annual downtown event is part community expo and part festival reflecting all aspects of our city. Enjoy walking around the downtown which is closed to pedestrian traffic only during the event. Between the many downtown restaurants and food trucks that join us just for this event you won’t have to walk more than a few steps to find something delicious to eat. The downtown shops stays open late for you to enjoy some after work shopping, plus there are plenty of local crafters and artisans with booths set up for you to explore, mixed among the many Main, Eagle, Holden and the northern portion of Ashland Street will be closed to all but pedestrian traffic. Groups, businesses and organizations distribute information, hold contests and giveaways, while bands play and groups perform throughout the downtown. Delicious aromas fill the air as our local restaurants and vendors provide all kinds of wonderful food. This all-ages street fair is sure to please. |

The Hoosac Valley Motorcycle club will be their annual Nut and Bolt Poker Run on Sunday, Aug. 20th The ride is open to the public and all types of bikes and riders are encouraged to come. You will be able to ride 100 miles of some of the nicest roads in North Berkshires, Vermont, and Eastern New York. You will have a chance to visit Jim Hoellerich’s Museum of Vintage Trail Bikes, the Man of Kent, a Flea market, and a covered bridge. The event is also a Poker Run so there will be a $10 fee at the beginning to get cards at the end of the ride to win. This is a “ride at your own pace” ride, using a route sheet with directions. Riders that want to see the sights should plan on leaving at 9:00 a.m. Last riders will be leaving at 11:00 a.m. The start is at the HVMC Clubhouse off Alger St in Adams MA and ends on Henry Wood Rd. Cheshire where food will be available to purchase. There is no rain date. If it rains, plan on driving the car.

Difficulty: Moderate (slow pace, moderate elevation changes). Hike a total of 6 miles along a ridgeline trail that looks out over valleys and towns far below. Our halfway point will be the open rock summit of Spruce Hill, where we will be for the peak of the solar eclipse. Please bring snack, water and appropriate footwear. Directions: From Pittsfield: Take Route 8 North, at the Cumberland Farms in North Adams, take a right onto 8A. Then take a right, heading east on Route 2. This series features films in which Picasso and/or his art is a seminal aspect of the film’s narrative, plot, or the artistic creativity of the film’s protagonist. The Nobel-Prize winning Chilean poet and politician, Pablo Neruda, was the most notorious communist in post-WWII Chile. Faced with shifting political ideologies, Neruda retreats to an underground existence, hunted by the police and secret detectives. Ever the poet, Neruda leaves sly clues for his pursuers in an effort to refuse living the life of the fugitive while artists back in Europe, led by Picasso, fight for his freedom. Eventually, Neruda escapes to Argentina by passing through the Andes mountains to freedom. Picasso appears in the film when he reads a poem at a conference that Neruda has secretly mailed to him.

Experience the solar eclipse as it is happening at the Berkshire Athenaeum, Pittsfield’s Public Library, 1 Wendell Ave, Pittsfield, Monday, August 21, starting at 2:00 PM! Here in the Berkshires we will see a partial eclipse with the moon covering 66% of the sun. We’ll start by creating your own pinhole eclipse viewer, followed by other art and interactive learning activities. Bring a cereal box with you for the pinhole viewer. There will be a video all about solar eclipses and live-streaming the total eclipse from the NASA website. If it’s a sunny day, we’ll head outside about 2:30 PM to experience the eclipse through our pinhole viewers. The Berkshire Athenaeum will provide 100 pairs of certified safe shades for eclipse viewing. Rain or shine come experience the excitement of the solar eclipse at the library, Monday, August 21, 2:00 PM. Free and open to the public!
