Fused Plastic Upcycling Workshop

Participants will learn about upcycling plastic bags through the process of fusing. Using the heat and pressure of a household iron, a new type of textile is formed from un-recyclable plastic bags and wrappers that would usually be thrown away. This 101 class teaches the basics of plastic bag fusing and each participant will complete a final project using the fused textile. All participants will be supervised or assisted as needed with the use of the iron. Participants must be at least 10 years old and pre-register in the Youth Services Department for the workshop as space is limited.

Participants can bring clean un-recyclable bags with them to the workshop to use in the fusing process. See Lou's website at http://www.lousupcycles.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/PLASTIC-BAG-RECYCLING-GUIDELINES-1.pdf for more info on what bags to bring.
