NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —MountainOne has granted $8,000 to Northern Berkshire United Way and the Williamstown Community Chest in support of a new collaboration to provide Northern Berkshire youth ages 9-17 with experiential, summer learning based programs on the MCLA campus.

NBUW and WCC will work closely with area youth agencies to refer young people into the summer programs and coordinate transportation when needed.

"We are pleased to support this innovative and collaborative community program developed by high-quality organizations in support of opportunities for our local youth," Kelli Kozak, AVP Community Engagement officer at MountainOne, said.

Scholarships or “camperships” may be used for the following MCLA Summer Camps: Young Hacks I and II, Robotics I and II,  and Creative Writing. More information can be found at the MCLA website. Quantities are limited and can be used for one week of camp only.

"By collectively working together, along with area youth agencies, NBUW and WCC can support youth who lack the financial means to attend these summer learning programs in order to promote summer learning loss prevention and to build educational aspirations," Christa Collier, executive director of Northern Berkshire United Way, said.

Anne Singleton, executive director of the Williamstown Community Chest, echoed those thoughts.

"Finances can be a barrier to participation in high value summer program experiences. We wanted to be able to jointly approach this issue and build opportunities for youth in our funding area to be exposed to the exceptional programs offered by MCLA," she said.

To inquire about a scholarship, please contact: Christa Collier at Northern Berkshire United Way at 413-663-9062 or Anne Singleton at the Williamstown Community Chest at 413-458-2443.
