Letter: Restore children's art

To the Editor:

Just read the letter by the art teacher who was shocked by the paint over of the paintings on the pillars of the Marshall Street bridge. Speaking to many North Adams residents, it is quite obvious that many others feel the way I do in regards to how this was handled as well as how the work of children was eliminated.

Assume that part of Mass Moca's mission is to promote, preserve and encourage art. I find it counter intuitive that the organization would arbitrarily and unilateral eliminate the historic depictions of our past.

Is there a solution? Yes, encourage and promote a community effort like this to have Mass Moca restore those painting to their original conditions. Such would rebuild community confidence and honor the work of our school children and those adults responsible for the artistic and historic creations.
