NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The Berkshire Family YMCA will hold the 16th annual Jocelyn E LeClair Memorial Scholarship Race on Sunday, May 7, at Windsor Lake Park.

 

The 5-kilometer run and walk will kick off at 10 a.m. with a 1-mile fun run and walk to follow.

 

The JEL is dedicated to the memory of Jocelyn LeClair, a Drury High School student who died at age 15 in 2001 from spinal meningitis. The event was started by friends and family the next spring and taken over by the YMCA last year.

 

Proceeds benefit the Jocelyn E. LeClair Memorial Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to two high school students each from Drury and McCann Tech, the YMCA’s summer camps and the ROPES camp program.

 

Prizes will be awarded to the top 5K male and female finishers in each age group. Raffles and chance auctions are planned.

 

T-shirts are available to the first 175 registrants. All ages are welcome.

 

Registration is $20 in advance, $25 the day of the race.
