Out of 14,000 submissions, North Adams is one of 8 communities selected as a semi-finalist for a $500k downtown investment by the Small Business Revolution.
That’s right, the smallest city in the Commonwealth is representing the Berkshires, Massachusetts, and all of New England in this nationwide competition!
What’s at stake?  not only $500k worth of expertise and funding from the Small Business Revolution, but  North Adams would be featured in an 8 episode documentary about the process that will be available on Hulu and the SBR website.

Soule Monde is a deep funk avant outfit that features Russ Lawton and Ray Paczkowski. The duo draws notably from their decade plus of touring and recording with Phish front man's Trey Anastasio Band. Ray and Russ have been touring and recording with TAB since 1998 and 2001 respectively, and their collaborations include releases with Carlos Santana, Live at Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, and appearances on late night shows from Saturday Night Live, David Letterman, Jay Leno, Jimmy Fallon, and Conan O'Brien. Russ Lawton is credited with co­writing the Grammy-­nominated song "First Tube" which appeared on Phish's 2000 album Farmhouse, and Ray Paczkowski toured and recorded with Dave Matthews & Friends. Soule Monde members have shared the stage with Trey Anastasio, Dave Matthews, Victor Wooten, Mike Gordon, Rolling Stones, Carlos Santana, Zzebra, Viperhouse, & Strangefolk.

The 2017 Green Living Seminar series is a presentation of MCLA’s Berkshire Environmental Resource Center and the MCLA Environmental Studies Department.
The Thursday, Jan. 26, the lecture will be “Prioritizing, Partnering and Preventing: How One National Wildlife Refuge Approaches Invasive Plant Challenges.” It will be presented by Cynthia Boettner, who has been with the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge, United States Fish and Wildlife Service, for more than 18 years.

Local indie-folk heroes Parsonsfield blew minds at FreshGrass 2016 playing live to an excerpt of the iconic Richard Flaherty documentary "Nanook of the North." We’ve asked for the band to score the whole film, and they’re back to perform the world premiere. What to expect: Seating is general admission within each section. Preferred tickets are general admission seats located in the first rows of the theater. A full bar serves Bright Idea Brewing beers and Berkshire Mountain Distillery spirits. Planning on dinner before the show? The Clark Art Institute, in conjunction with Pastor Mark Longhurst of the First Congregational Church of Williamstown, presents StorySLAM on Friday, January 27. The event, free and open to the public, celebrates the Clark’s exhibition Japanese Impressions: Color Woodblock Prints from the Rodbell Collection, open through April 2, 2017. Members of the Williamstown community and beyond are invited to hear and tell stories that center around the topic of “a gift”. Have you ever received a life-changing gift? When did a gift enrich, surprise, change, shock, or delight you? On the evening of the event, names of those interested in sharing stories are chosen at random, and those selected are invited to tell a five-minute story.   • 9:30am-10:30am: We will read “The Missing Mitten Mystery” by Steven Kellogg. Kids will then create a yarn snowman (can stand up or can be hung or used as an ornament next year!) Keep it simple or dress it up with sparkles and glitter! 
  • 11:00am-12:00pm: We will read “The Mitten” by Jan Brett. Then kids will create small snow globe magnets. You can build a winter scene or bring a photo of your child (2 inches by 2 inches), to decorate with snow, sparkly items, pom poms and more.
