Join us for that annual Fall Foliage Children's Races and Family Fair presented by Adams Youth Center Inc, Northern Berkshire Community Action Council, and the City of North Adams featuring live music by Terry A La Berry and Friends! This event offers family fun, games, and races for all ages, sponsored by numerous local agencies. Registration for the races will go on until the races begin at 10:30 AM. This workshop will teach new ways to explore printing directly from a black and white Xerox copy or laser print. (The photocopy/laser print is the printing plate!) Participants should bring standard size photocopies or laser prints of all kinds of imagery including text, photo images and drawings from sketchbooks. Roxy will demonstrate inking and hand printing from your “paper” printing plates. Samples from the instructor’s collection will be shown to better demonstrate the potential of this method. No previous experience needed. This process employs oil based ink, & salad oil (minimal low fumes) gamsol for clean up. Printing ink, brushes, tools, gloves and other tools provided. Bring an apron or clothes which can get dirty.

In this introductory workshop, we will experiment with monotype and drypoint printmaking, two forms that have a wide range of possible image-making possibilities. We will be using a Charles Brand etching press with a 12” x 24” plate bed, which will be residing at the Makers’ Mill on loan. Ink and plates will be provided. Bring your own brushes and paper and or buy paper at cost from instructor. No previous printmaking experience necessary but all levels welcome!

The Magic of everyday moments. A New Series for Parents with Children Birth to 3 Years Old. Mondays, September 26, October 3, 17 and 24th from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at The Family Center 210 State Street, North Adams. Understanding a young child’s development is the key to understanding the child. The series will feature videos, discussion and handouts that will give parents an understanding of the ages and stages of their unique child. Learn about how children ages birth-3 -Form a trusting bond and how to nurture learning. -Make positive connections to fuel learning -Develop through play, routines and relationships -School Readiness –Language, literacy, thinking and social and emotional skills. Andrew Morris-Singer, Class of 2000, founder and president of Primary Care Progress, will present a lecture titled "Revitalizing Healthcare: Relational Leadership" at Williams College in Brooks-Rogers Recital Hall, Bernhard Music Center. It is free and open to the public. In his talk, Morris-Singer will discuss some of the trends that exist in our healthcare system. In particular, he will address a new type of leadership—relational leadership—that will be increasingly necessary in healthcare in order to effectively manage the unprecedented levels of change that are occurring in how care is being delivered, and how health professionals are being trained.
