NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The La Festa Baseball Exchange begins its second quarter century on Saturday evening at Joe Wolfe Field.

 

Since 1990, the annual rite of summer has united youth baseball players from Boston and North Adams in a friendly home-and-home series of ballgames.

 

Last year, the event marked its 25th anniversary, and the hits (and pitches) will keep on coming thanks to the hard work of volunteers, spearheaded by co-founder and longtime organizer George Canales.

 

The exchange opens at 6 p.m. Saturday evening when the North End Dodgers of Boston take on North Adams. The teams will meet again on Sunday morning at 10:30.
