ROXBURY, Mass. -- The West girls basketball team took home the bronze medal from the Bay State Games on Sunday.

 

After going 2-2 the first two days of the tournament, West won twice on Sunday, beating the Metro squad, 57-40, and beating Northeast for the second time in three days, this time by a score of 68-58.

 

In the Bronze Medal game, Katy O'Connor of Hampshire Regional scored a team-high 19 points.

 

Hoosac Valley's Madi Ryan scored 12 -- nine on 3-pointers. Lenox's Alice Najimy scored eight, and Gwendolyn Carpenter of Mount Everett added five.

 

Najimy, Ryan and Carpenter each scored five in the win over Metro. Drury's Brooke DiGennaro added a bucket in the win.

 

The West team was coached by Meg Burrington and Drury High School graduate Amy Cyr.
