NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The North Adams SteepleCats defeated the Upper Valley Nighthawks, 12-1, on Monday evening to move into third place in the New England Collegiate Baseball League’s Northern Division.

 

Ryan Tapp was lights out in his start on the mound for the SteepleCats (12-9) going shutout innings and giving up four hits. He walked one and struck out six.

 

John Mazza went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs for North Adams.

 

The ‘Cats will be back in action Tuesday night as they wrap up their four-game home stand against the Valley Blue Sox at Joe Wolfe Field. Peter Lannoo (1-1, 5.40) will start for the SteepleCats against Mark Washington (0-0, 1.00) for the Blue Sox. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
