SteepleCats Snap Three-Game Losing Streak

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- With a high powered offense and outstanding pitching, the North Adams SteepleCats on Sunday were able to snap a three-game losing streak with a 7-4 victory over the Sanford Mainers.
 
‘Cats starter Braxton Wilks continued to be his dominant self winning his fourth game in as many starts.  After giving up a pair of runs in the first inning, he settled down and shut out the Mainers (9-11)through the sixth inning. He finished the day allowing just four hits and struck out four bringing his season strikeout total to 18.
 
Seven different SteepleCat hitters recorded at least one base hit on the night. Nick Riotto was 3-for-5 and scored the team’s first run in the first inning setting the tone for the game. Noah Vaughan reached base four times recording three walks and driving in a pair of runs on a fifth inning triple.  C.J. Price and John Mazza each added solo home runs for the ‘Cats.
 
The SteepleCats (11-9) will be back at it Monday night against the Upper Valley Nighthawks to celebrate Independence Day at Joe Wolfe Field. Ryan Tapp (1-1, 4.90) will take the mound for the ‘Cats against Ryan Takacs (1-0, 2.70) for the Nighthawks. Fireworks will follow the game.
