NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The North Adams SteepleCats (9-6) had lost their previous four games following a win, but they ended that streak on Saturday night, winning their second game in a row with a 6-1 victory over the Sanford Mainers (7-7).

The SteepleCats got another strong start from Braxton Wilks.  Wilks improved to 3-0 on the year, going six innings and allowing one run off of four hits and struck out seven. He ran into trouble in the second inning when the Mainers loaded the bases with nobody out. He was able to get out of that inning, stranding all three base runners. He also retired eight hitters in a row at one point.

The ‘Cats jumped on top early with three consecutive singles to load the bases at the start of the first inning.  Two of those runners came in to score on a pair of sacrifices. The ‘Cats loaded the bases again in the second inning and once again scored two of those runners to take a 4-0 lead.

The ‘Cats once again saw good work out of their bullpen Saturday night. Kyle Mora pitched a scoreless seventh in relief and retired the lone hitter he faced in the eighth.  Andrew Camiolo came on and finished the eighth inning and then started the ninth and saw the first two hitter reach base. Jared Habershaw then retired three in a row to end the game.

The SteepleCats will be back in action on Sunday afternoon for Beach Day at Joe Wolfe Field starting at 4:30 against the Vermont Mountaineers (3-11).
