DANBURY, Conn. -- Just like the previous couple of games, the North Adams SteepleCats (7-5) found themselves in another high scoring game Wednesday night. This time, North Adams defeated the Danbury Westerners (6-6), 12-10, at Rogers Park.

The SteepleCats completely dominated early on scoring in five of the first six innings to take a commanding 12-1 lead. All nine starters for the ‘Cats reached base safely at least once during the game and eight of the nine starters scored at least one run.

The Westerners got their bats going in the bottom of the sixth scoring four runs to cut the lead to 12-5. They kept it going with two runs in the seventh and three in the eighth to make it 12-10.

After three previous appearances out of the bullpen, Ryan Tapp was solid in his first start of the season for the ‘Cats. He lasted five and a third innings and struck out three. He allowed just one run through the first five innings. At one point, he retired 10 hitters in a row. He left the game with one out in the sixth inning after the Westerners began their rally.

Tanner Bird came on in the ninth and struck out the side to hold off Danbury’s and close out the ‘Cats’ victory, his third save of the season.

The ‘Cats will be back in action Thursday night against the Valley Blue Sox. They come home Friday to host Vermont at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Wolfe Field.
