FIGMENT North Adams 2016
Windsor Lake
Free
3 – 9:30 PM
For more information

On April 30, 2016, North Adams' Windsor Lake will transform into a wondrous playground of interactive artworks and performances for curious people of all ages to explore!

FIGMENT North Adams is a community forum for the creation and display of free, public, accessible, participatory and interactive art by emerging artists across all disciplines and creative experimenters alike.

FIGMENT's vision for art is not just something that you stand still and quietly look at – it is something you participate in. You touch it, smell it, write on it, talk to it, dance with it, play with it, learn from it. Interactive art creates a dynamic collaboration between the artist, the audience and their environment.

BAD DRAMA CLUB PRESENTS: THE GREAT NORTH ADAMS BUBONIC PLAGUE OF 2016

Question: What does the average Medieval European peasant have in common with present day North Adams?

Answer: Disturbingly obstructed access to adequate health care!

Can you imagine what would happen if the bubonic plague (a.k.a. the Black Death) broke out in North Adams? How would people realize what was happening? What (if any) infrastructure is in place to help the city government deal with an outbreak of plague? What would the Berkshire Eagle say about the whole mess? Over the next couple of months we’ll try to figure out how this sort of atrocity would go down in the Berkshires, and work towards some sort of performance based on what we find!

Come to the first informational meeting of “Bad Drama Club” if you are interested: we will be talking about what has happened the last few times the Black Death spread, theories for why and how it affected as much of the world as it has, and imagining how we would respond to the insanity ourselves.

for more information

On August 2nd, 2008, a drunk driver slammed into Clara Gardner and pinned her against another car. The accident would take both of her legs above the knee and change her life forever. Joe Aidonidis and Augusta Rose, locally settled artists and arts advocates, as well as affiliates with Common Folk artist collective, have been documenting the process of rehabilitation and daily life for Ms. Gardner over the past few years, and have been focusing on her new potential surgery to make her prosthetics more comfortable and livable. Since it is not available in the United States, Clara will be traveling to Sydney, Australia to have this revolutionary surgery. The team will travel with her to document her surgery, recovery, and rehabilitation, as well as speak to doctors, professionals, and fellow amputees. This campaign will support our efforts by raising funds for travel, living accommodations, and other production expenses related to the trip.
