The next meeting of the Northern Berkshire Interfaith Action Initiative (NBIAI) will be held in the Eagle Street Room of the First Baptist Church of North Adams. The guests will include Wendy Penner of the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition, who will speak about the work of the RX/Heroin Work Group. Annie Rodgers and Jessica Sweeney of the Coalition’s Northern Berkshire Neighbors program also will speak about the 2016 Community Outreach Worker trainning and what it has to offer.

The Northern Berkshire YMCA welcomes youth and teens ages 8-14 years for a night of fun, active play at Kids’ Night Out, held every Friday night until Dec. 18 at the YMCA on Brickyard Court. Parents can enjoy a night out while their youth and teens have fun in a safe, secure environment. Youth and teens enjoy an evening of fun and games, gym time and pool time (bring your bathing suits)! Make a last minute gift while learning a new skill at the Makers' Mill. Class fee provides a simple introduction to Japanese resist dyeing (similar to tie dye) with natural Indigo, necessary supplies, and two 22” bandanas to practice dyeing techniques. Additional cotton bandanas ($5) and 30” square silk scarves ($10) will be available for an additional fee at the time of the class. 
*actual production time is approximately 30 – 60 minutes*
Ericka Traven is a recent transplant to the Berkshires and will be sharing her love and knowledge of all things fiber related this year through classes at the Maker’s Mill.  She sews, knits, dyes, weaves, embroiders, mends, and is passionate about making functional and beautiful handmade items that she can use in her everyday life.

Don't forget to enjoy the season this busy time of year! For us in the Northern Hemisphere, the December solstice marks the longest night and shortest day of the year. Winter Begins December 21st, and Lindsay St. Pierre and I are ready to lead you in a mindful yoga practice to transition through the darkness and embrace the light that is eternally within. The Winter Soulstice class is a balance of light and dark, warm and cool, sun and moon, exploring different styles of yoga: This evening practice will begin with a guided visualization focused on the solstice. We will then begin a Vinyasa based practice that is both warming and soulful to ignite an inner fire. Then journey to slow, restorative yoga poses for deeper stretches and receive Thai Massage assists.

Be part of a new figure drawing collective starting up at Makers’ Mill. Sessions will run every Monday and will focus on long poses, and include a warm up consisting of several short poses.
We’ll be bringing in local models and a local, figure drawing instructor who will drop-in as available. Get in as at the ground level to shape the direction this collective takes. Bring your own lap board, paper, pencils, and creative energy!

Dec. 14-18 – Bake Holiday Cookies for the Berkshire Food Project
 Hello, cookie bakers! The Berkshire Food Project is in need of home baked holiday cookies to give to folks attending the annual holiday dinner on December 21st. You can drop off cookies from 9 am until 2 pm the week of December 14th at the First Congregational Church in North Adams, 134 Main St. The last day for cookies drop off is Friday December 18th before 2:00 p.m. If those times don't work, leave a message. Any kind and any amount. Tell your friends. More details forthcoming.

Home for the Holidays – A Higher Ground Benefit Concert

Home for the Holidays is a benefit concert to raise awareness and funds for Higher Ground, the local affordable housing recovery organization founded in the wake of Tropical Storm Irene.
It will be a festive evening of music featuring a host of regional favorites: Long Journey, Good Good, Duo Eamon, Jeb Barry, Northern Spy, Gordon Holey, Rosin the Beaux, Singing School
Higher Ground -- http://highergroundnb.org/ -- was founded in October 2011 to help Williamstown residents affected by the August 28, 2011 flooding of Tropical Storm Irene, particularly those 300 residents of The Spruces Mobile Home Park displaced from their homes. Higher Ground’s focus is to work with Spruces residents as they move forward toward recovery.
Contributions on a sliding scale of $15 to $20 at the door will benefit the cause.
Dinner is also available.

Don't want to drop a lot of money on something you've never tried before? Here's your chance to try skiing or snowboarding... completely on us!  Based out of the GET Skiing / Learn to Ride center in the Doc Maynard building, you'll get everything you'll need for the day; rental equipment, a learning area lift ticket and tips from trained instructors.
Instructors will be posted throughout the learning area from 1:30 - 3 to offer tips and advice. The learning area utilizes Terrain Based Learning (TBL); an innovative learning approach that sculpts the snow into features that control speed and direction.
