To the Editor:
Mayor Dick Alcombright has embraced transparency during his six years as our leader.
He has made information about the workings of city government more easily and fully available to the citizens of North Adams.
The mayor uses cable access television, the Internet and social media to share information, to keep people informed and to build a culture of shared accountability between city government and the citizens of North Adams. He has welcomed citizen participation in local government and provided the citizen volunteers who serve on boards and commissions the autonomy and independence they need to carry out their civic service with integrity.
Mayor Alcombright supported the adoption of the Code Red system that connects the citizens of North Adams with details about weather emergencies, school closings, major events, and service outages, helping to keep people informed and safe. This November I will be voting for transparency in city government and information sharing. Please join me this Nov. 3 and re-elect Mayor Dick Alcombright.
