Jim Shaw mines the essentials of American cultural detritus, from comic books, pulp novels, and album covers, to vintage advertisements, movie posters, and noise rock in his exhibition Entertaining Doubts. The topic of the monthly Northern Berkshire Community Coalition meeting is "Disconnected Workers: Income Inequality and Workforce Development." Attendees will hear updates on efforts to build a strong workforce in Northern Berkshire, explore reasons why some disconnected workers remain outside of the workforce and discuss the value of partnerships to help make needed connections. The forum will be held at the First Baptist Church in North Adams (please use the Eagle Street entrance). Also note that the organizers of the Friendship Center Food Pantry at 45 Eagle Street ask friends who attend the nbCC forums to please bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the pantry.

This documentary film examines Anselm Kiefer’s alchemical processes via a cinematic journey through his studio estate in the south of France. Art historian Michael Lewis excavates some of the obscure pieces of iconography from Kiefer’s Chlebnikov painting series, in a post-film talk and tour of our Kiefer gallery, a partnership with The Hall Art Foundation..

The Main Street Walk starts at 2:30pm at the west end of the street, past SubWay.  Interested persons are advised to dress for the weather, wear a good pair of walking shoes, sun-block and a hat with a wide brim.  They should carry a canteen or bottle of water, bring their own (or someone else’s) children, and be prepared to have their ears talked off.  Rain or high wind cancels.  For information, Marino can be reached at 413-207-1344.

Be part of a new figure drawing collective starting up at Makers’ Mill. Sessions will run every Monday and will focus on long poses, and include a warm up consisting of several short poses.

We’ll be bringing in local models and a local, figure drawing instructor who will drop-in as available. Get in as at the ground level to shape the direction this collective takes. Bring your own lap board, paper, pencils, and creative energy!
