Join Naturalist Aimee Gelinas M.Ed, Director of the Tamarack Hollow Nature & Cultural Center for a Fall Equinox High Elevation/Boreal Forest Summit Walk and Nature Photo Slideshow at Bascom Lodge and Mt Greylock Summit. Learn how to identify high elevation trees, shrubs and plants such as Balsam Fir, Red Spruce and Mountain Maple then see photos in the lodge of high elevation boreal forest flora and fauna taken at Tamarack Hollow, a forest akin to Mt Greylock Summit. The Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice is offering a series of support group sessions for Hospice families and others in the community grieving a recent death. The sessions will be held in North Berkshire on consecutive Wednesdays from mid-August to late September, including August 19th and 26th, and September 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd. Each session will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 pm in the first floor meeting room of the First Congregational Church on Main Street in North Adams. Pre-registration is required. Mill City Productions is pleased to announce a fundraising event to benefit the Mike Grogan Memorial Fund. The hike will start at the Bernard Farm Trail Gate on Notch Road in North Adams. Parking is available at the entrance to the trail. Participants are encouraged to wear hiking boots or sneakers as well as bring their own water and a snack. All proceeds will go towards Mill City's Mike Grogan Memorial Fund, which gives scholarships to local theatre students as well as helps with capital improvements to Mill City's theatre. |

Drug Take Back Day – Prescription Rx Round-up!

Community coalitions from across the county have joined forces to host the biannual prescription drug take back day on September 26th, 2015 from 10am-2pm. There will be four locations across the county: Adams Police Station (4 School St.); the Dalton CRA (400 Main St.); the Lee Ambulance Service (177 Main St.); and the Lenox Town Hall (6 Walker St.). Anyone with unused, unwanted and expired prescription, over-the-counter and controlled medications should stop by to dispose of them safely. Personal needles are also accepted in puncture proof plastic containers. The process of dropping off medication is anonymous, takes only a minute, and could end up saving lives.
