MCLA Welcomes 18 New Staff to Campus

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts has welcomed 18 new staff members to campus, where they are serving in a wide range of positions.

Justin Biasin has joined the college’s Department of Public Safety, where he is a campus police officer. He comes to MCLA from the West Stockbridge Police Department, where he worked as part-time police officer. Biasin holds an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Berkshire Community College.

Aimee Bullett-Smith joined MCLA’s Health Services Office. A registered nurse, she is working as a physician’s assistant. She comes to the college from Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, where she worked as a nurse practitioner, and also from MCLA, where she has been working part-time as a nurse practitioner. Bullett-Smith earned a master of science degree as a family nurse practitioner from Sage Graduate School, and a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee.

Deborah Currie joined the Office of Academic Affairs as an administrative assistant. She comes to MCLA from K and L Gates LLP, in Washington, D.C., where she worked as a senior paralegal and the “Blue Sky” coordinator. Curie earned a bachelor of arts degree in English and government from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa.

Christopher Hantman ’14 has joined the Office of Student Affairs as the community engagement coordinator. He comes to MCLA from New Europe Books in Williamstown, where he worked as a social media marketing consultant. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in creative writing from MCLA.

Troy Heffron joined Residential Programs and Services as a residence director for the Flagg Townhouses. He comes to MCLA from University of Indianapolis, where he worked as a residence director. Heffron earned a Master of Arts degree in applied sociology from the University of Indianapolis, and a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Mich.

Catherine Holbrook has joined MCLA’s Office of Student Affairs as the vice president of student affairs and dean of students. She comes to the College from Bridgewater State University, where she was the associate vice president for student affairs. Holbrook earned her Ph.D. in educational leadership and higher education from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Neb., a master of education in counseling from Bridgewater State University and a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Villanova University in Villanova, Pa.

Sierra Holland joined the campus’s Department of Facilities as a maintainer. She comes to MCLA from Ye Olde Forge Restaurant in Lanesborough, where she worked as a hostess, bartender/waitress and the floor manager. Holland graduated from Mount Greylock Regional High School in Williamstown.

Kathryn Johnson ’14 has joined the Office of Admission as an admissions counselor. She previously worked on campus as a part-time admissions counselor. Johnson earned a bachelor of arts degree in English/communications from MCLA.

Christina Kelly joined the Office of Advancement where she is the administrative assistant to the chief advancement officer. She comes to MCLA from Congregation Knesset Israel in Pittsfield, where she worked as executive assistant to the rabbi, and as the office manager. Kelly earned a bachelor of science degree in liberal studies from Regents College, the University of the State of New York, in Albany, N.Y.

Erin Milne has joined MCLA’s Office of Academic Affairs where she is the director of assessment and planning. She comes to the campus from BART Charter Public School in Adams, where she worked as the director of instructional logistics and assessment. Milne earned a Master of Arts degree in music education with teacher licensure from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, and a bachelor of arts degree in music history and theory from Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio.

Jessica Montecalvo has joined Residential Programs and Services as a residence director and is the assistant to the director. She comes to MCLA from Smith College in Northampton, where she was the coordinator of house events. Montecalvo earned a bachelor of arts degree in English literature and American studies from Smith College in Northampton.

Brian Nelson has joined Facilities as a maintainer. He comes to MCLA from David Clark Company in Worcester, where he worked as a research and development craftsman on the assembly line for the helmet department. Nelson graduated from Assebet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlborough.

Steven Pesola joined Computer Support Services as the web and communications manager. He comes to MCLA from Geometry Global (a division of Ogilvy) in New York, N.Y., where he worked as a senior project manager. Pesola earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from New York University in New York, N.Y.

Allison Prion has joined the Office of Admission as a receptionist. She comes to MCLA from Southern Vermont College in Bennington, Vt., where she worked as an admissions counselor and visit coordinator. Prion earned a bachelor of science degree from Plymouth State University in Plymouth, N.H.

Angela Saltamartini ’14 joined the Department of Public Safety as a campus police officer. She comes to MCLA from BFAIR (Berkshire Family and Individual Resources) in North Adams, where she worked as an Arcadia staff member per diem, and from the North Adams Police Department, where she was a police officer. Saltamartini earned a bachelor of science degree in sociology, with concentrations on criminal justice and leadership, from MCLA.
 
Peter Urbanowicz has joined the Department of Public Safety as a campus police officer and sergeant. He comes to MCLA from the Bennington County Sheriff’s Department, where he worked as a detective sergeant. He earned Vermont Justice Training Council Police Officer Certification and graduated from Averill Park High School in Averill Park, N.Y.

Curtis Wells joined MCLA’s Computer Support Services as a media service technician. He comes to the college from Tompkins-Cortland Community College in Dryden, N.Y., where he was a student technical employee. Wells earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Clemson University in Clemson, S.C., and an associate’s degree in computer information systems from Tompkins-Cortland Community College.

April Wright ’14 has joined the Office of Student Affairs as an administrative assistant. She comes to MCLA from Bella Baby Photography, N.Y., N.J. and Conn., where she worked as the Bella Life manager and customer service supervisor. Wright earned a bachelor of arts degree in English/communications from MCLA.
