DownStreet Art continues with permanent and pop-up gallery exhibition openings, temporary installations, and live music performances. In addition to the new exhibit openings in multiple galleries, this event will feature a work-in-progress showing by Jarvis Rockwell, a public performance piece with artist Stephanie Weber, a continuation of the ReVision Chalkboard Project, music at the Mohawk Marquee and more.

Motorama returns for its fifth year in North Adams. Main, Holden and Eagle Streets will be closed to all but pedestrian traffic as downtown North Adams fills with hundreds of cars, trucks, motorcycles, snowmobiles and tractors. This vehicle show offers fun for everyone. Attendees can enjoy music, 50/50 raffles, food, shopping and more!

2015 marks the 19th year of North Adams’ Annual Downtown Celebration. Main, Eagle, Holden and the northern portion of Ashland Street will be closed to all but pedestrian traffic. Groups, businesses and organizations distribute information, hold contests and giveaways, while bands play everything from Dixieland to Rock and Roll.  Delicious aromas fill the air as our local restaurants and vendors provide all kinds of wonderful food. This all-ages street fair is sure to please.

The Family Place is hosting a back-to-school event for kids entering K through 6th grade at local northern Berkshire elementary schools. Students and their parents will receive a free backpack filled with school supplies. The event for families living in Williamstown, North Adams, Clarksburg, Adams, & Cheshire will be located at The Family Place, 61 Main Street, North Adams on Thursday, August 13 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Become part of the Mill community, join our open member studio night filled with all types of making. We are creating a club of doers who meet regularly to push and inspire each other to explore themselves in new ways, to work around each other weekly and listen to great records. This weekly creative gathering will be led by Danny O., who has been dreaming about art since he was a small child. He loves collage, painting both acrylic and oil and likes to sing and day dream as well.

Party in the Park is an annual summer concert series that is free and open the public. The shows run every Thursday night starting at 6:00pm and ending at 8:00pm at the Noel Field behind the Steeplecats baseball diamond. The St. Vincent de Paul Society is hosting a 5K race and 1-mile walk at St. Elizabeth of Hungary on Marshall Street to benefit its efforts to stomp out poverty. Students will learn the basics of how different alphabets are structured and begin to letter the foundational (roman) hand. In this workshop, broad-edged markers will be used to allow students to focus on the lettering.Dip pens will be demonstrated. Be part of a new figure drawing collective starting up at Makers’ Mill. Sessions will run every Monday and will focus on long poses, and include a warm up consisting of several short poses.
We’ll be bringing in local models and a local, figure drawing instructor who will drop-in as available. Get in as at the ground level to shape the direction this collective takes. Bring your own lap board, paper, pencils, and creative energy!

Wildcard: For the fourteenth consecutive season the concerts will be offered every Wednesday evening, beginning July 8th through August 26th, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Burbank Park on Onota Lake in Pittsfield. According to May, a shuttle service will be offered again this year for people parking at Taconic High School. In addition, parking will be available on Vin Hebert Boulevard. The Pittsfield Police Department would like to remind those who attend that alcohol is not permitted at Burbank Park during these concerts and no parking is allowed on Lakeway Drive Extension (located off Pecks Road). The Pittsfield Police Department will be on patrol during these shows and parking violations will be cited.

Most of the Mount Greylock range drains into the Hoosic River, which collects in Cheshire Reservoir and southern Vermont before winding across Rensselaer County, New York, to the Hudson at Schaghticook. The Hoosic River Watershed Association is at work on projects along the Hoosic and its tributaries in three states to create a “river trail,” a series of put-ins, carries, trails and greenways to enhance recreation, bring more of the population closer to the river and increase appreciation for this natural asset.

United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Berkshire County is hosting a paint and sip fundraiser with Progressive Palette at UCP’s North Adams office at 535 Curran Hwy. Proceeds raised from the event will be used to benefit programs for more than 2,400 children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities throughout Berkshire County. Participants can sign-up for the $40 event on Progressive Palette’s website. UCP will receive $10 for everyone person who registers for the event. Light snacks and refreshments will be served while participants are asked to bring their own alcoholic beverages, if desired. A door prize for a $25 gift certificate to Public Eat & Drink will be given away at the end of the evening.

Mill City Productions will be holding auditions for its Oct. 16-25 production of “Clue: The Musical” at MCP, Building 4N (next to the Visitors’ Center), Heritage State Park, 115 State St. This interactive musical is based on the popular board game, and invites the audience to play the game along with the cast, with different possibilities each performance depending on the cards drawn. Roles are available for men and women ages 20s-60s; high school and college students can also be considered for the younger roles.  Please prepare 30 seconds of a song to sing a cappella. Those auditioning will also be asked to read scenes and learn part of a song from the show; no prepared monologues necessary.
