SANFORD, Maine -- Sanford, Maine's, Dalton Thomas singled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to send the Mainers to a 5-4 win over the North Adams SteepelCats in the New England Collegiate Baseball League playoffs on Monday night.
North Adams rallied from deficits of 2-1 and 3-2 to tie the game, the last time on Graham McIntire's RBI single in the top of the seventh.
McIntire went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to lead North Adams' nine-hit attack.
Charles Bryson took the loss on the mound in relief of starter Dakota Edwards, who went six innings. Hoosac Valley graduate Tanner Bird pitched 1-2/3 innings of no-hit relief, striking out two.
The SteepleCats come home Tuesday to host Sanford in Game 2 of the best-of-three Northern Division semi-final series.
