LACONIA, N.H. -- The North Adams SteepleCats' ninth-inning comeback bid fell short on Thursday night as they saw a three-game winning streak end in a 9-7 loss to Laconia in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
Laconia led 9-4 after eight innings, but the 'Catsgot the tying run on base before the game ended in a strikeout.
Jim Haley had a two-run single, and Victor Sorrento drove in Haley with a single in the rally.
Haley went 4-for-5. Sorrento was 3-for-4 with two runs batted in.
Rob Buffis got the start and went 4-2/3 innings, giving up five earned runs and drawing the loss.
North Adams (14-13) hosts the Valley Blue Sox (13-10) on Friday at 6:30 at Joe Wolfe Field.
