The Valley Blue Sox pushed across a run in the bottom of the 10th on Saturday night to hand the North Adams SteepleCats their first loss of the season, 5-4, in New England Colllegiate Baseball League action.

 

The 'Cats (1-1) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning, but Valley chipped away, finally tying it with a two-run ninth inning.

 

Joseph Burns went 2-for-5 with three RBIs at the plate for North Adams, which got one third inning of scoreless relief on the mound from Adams' Tanner Bird.

 

North Adams opened the season Friday night with a 6-5 win at Keene, N.H.

 

The SteepleCats come home on Sunday at 4:30 to take on Valley at Joe Wolfe Field.
