NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Jennifer Crowell has joined the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts community as the director of the Berkshire Cultural Resource Center, housed at MCLA Gallery 51 in downtown North Adams.

Crowell previously worked at BCRC as its program coordinator, from 2013 to 2014.

“I could not pass up the opportunity to work with the students at MCLA once again,” Crowell said. “Every time I saw a student that I had worked with, or a MCLA faculty or staff member, I realized how much I missed the community there, and the community of North Adams.”

Crowell said she is happy to be back at BCRC as the organization continues to provide leadership – not only in the arts, but also through community enrichment – that benefits both the campus and the greater North Adams communities.

As the director of BCRC, Crowell is responsible for the organization and implementation of creative programming to enhance and promote MCLA as the regional provider of art and arts education for the cultural and creative community, both locally and globally.

BCRC programs include MCLA Gallery 51, MCLA Presents!, the Berkshire Hills Internship Program (B-HIP), Tricks of the Trade and DownStreet Art.

In addition to creating, coordinating and growing cultural programming that connects the communities that surround North Adams, Crowell will work closely with MCLA’s academic departments, particularly the Fine and Performing Arts (FPA) Department and the arts management major.

According to Crowell, with the changes and plans that are in the works for North Adams, there are great opportunities available to the Center.

“It is an exciting time to come back to North Adams, and I look forward to what the future holds for BCRC,” she said.

Crowell earned a bachelor of arts degree in a multi-field major of music, history and sociology from St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.  She comes to MCLA from the Williamstown Theatre Festival, where she served as the marketing and development associate.

MCLA’s BCRC provides professional development training, resources and support to the artists, art managers and creative workers of Berkshire County. Through its multiple programs and presentations, BCRC brings the best of performance and art to the Berkshires and showcases the best of the Berkshires to the world.
