NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts hosted its annual Giving Thanks reception last month, honoring longtime employees for their contributions to the campus community.
MCLA President Mary K. Grant, Ph.D. presented awards to faculty and staff with between 10 and 40 years of service.
The honorees included Professor Ben Kahn, a 30-year member of the Department of Business Administration and Economics; Professor Jerry Smosky, a 40-year member of the Department of Biology; and Professor Carl Wolf, a 40-year member of the Department of Physics.
The College also paid tribute to the following 25-year employees: Sociology Professor Sumi Colligan, Department of Facilities Working Foreman Thomas DeGray, Public Safety Clerk Janice Dzbenski, Student Accounts Accountant Deborah Forgea, Department of Facilities Associate Director George Galli, Working Foreman John Greenbush, Theatre Technical Director/Designer Andrew Hoar, Biology Laboratory Technician Elaine Hoar, and Business Professor Edward Miano.
The employees honored for 20 years of service were Carpenter Frederick Ferris, Offset Duplicating Officer Elizabeth Manns, Campus Police Sergeant Richard Pothier, Librarian Sylvia Proud, and Human Resources Director Marilyn Truskowski.
These employees were recognized for 15 years of service: Department of Education Clerk Annette Allen, Student Government Clerk Diane Collins, Counseling Services Clerk Rita Janeczek, Facilities Maintainer Nettie Joy, Executive Director of Alumni Relations and Development Janice Messer, and Student Affairs Administrative Assistant Judith Ozolins.
MCLA also honored these 10-year employees: Sociology Professor and Women Center Director Susan Birns, Department of Administration and Finance Assistant Director Laura Brown, Plumber/Steamfitter Bruce LaPerle, Facilities Maintainer Donna McConnell, Facilities Maintainer Norbert Miller, Physics Technical Assistant Michael O'Neill, and Learning Services Clerk Donna Poulton.
