NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The North Adams SteepleCats held a 3-1 lead through five innings on Wednesday night, but could not hold the advantage as the 'Cats fell to the visiting Mystic Schooners, 8-3, in 10 innings at Joe Wolfe Field.   Mystic scored five runs in the top of the tenth in the first extra inning game of the season for the SteepleCats.   Starting pitchers Ryan Tapp (UNC Asheville) and Steve Theetge (Bryant) kept the game scoreless through three innings, before both teams plated a run in the fourth. The North Adams SteepleCats found themselves in an early hole, and were not able to recover in a 6-1 loss to the Sanford Mainers at Goodall Park on Tuesday night.   The Sanford win evened the season series after the SteepleCats won in walk-off fashion on Opening Night at Joe Wolfe Field. The game was called after six innings due to inclement weather in southern Maine.   Sanford jumped on the SteepleCats with four runs in the bottom of the first, all of which reached base with two outs. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The North Adams SteepleCats Monday walked off with a a 4-3 victory over the visiting Winnipesaukee Muskrats at Joe Wolfe Field.   The game featured an hour rain delay before first pitch, multiple misplayed balls due to the notoriously difficult lights at Joe Wolfe, and a ninth inning that was played in heavy rain.   After the game was pushed back an hour due to adverse weather in North Adams, the SteepleCats struck first with a run in the bottom of the first. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The North Adams SteepleCats saw their two-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday evening, as the visiting Keene Swamp Bats claimed an 8-2 victory.   The hosts could not solve Keene starter Tim Elliott, who did not allow a run over seven innings on the mound.   Keene took an early lead in the top of the first inning, plating a pair of runs on a big two-out hit. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The final tryout for the Western Massachusetts girls basketball team for this summer's Bay State Games is Sunday, June 25, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at McCann Tech.   The team primarily is for girls entering grades 9 through 12, though recent graduates are welcome.
