HARTFORD, Vt. -- The North Adams SteepleCats' bats came alive on Saturday night at Maxfield Sports Complex, plating a season-high ten runs and 15 hits in a 10-2 drubbing of the Upper Valley Nighthawks.   The 'Cats nearly matched their season total in runs, scoring 10 after recording 11 runs in the first three games combined.   It was an inauspicious start for the SteepleCats, as the Nighthawks grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Frank Gregoire drove in Anthony Godino on a sacrifice fly, and Adam Chase followed with a two-out single that scored Ryan Jeffers.   North Adams wasted no time in responding, taking control of the game with five runs in the top of

PLYMOUTH, Mass. -- The North Adams SteepleCats dropped their first game of the season on Friday night, falling 7-4 to the Plymouth Pilgrims at Forges Field.   Extra-base hits proved to be the difference in the game for the second night in a row, going against the 'Cats after aiding them on Thursday.   Friday's ballgame got off to a promising start for the SteepleCats, who scored twice in the top of the first. Four walks and a hit batsmen forced the two runs in without the aid of a North Adams hit. Bases loaded walks were dealt to Tyler Walters (Slippery Rock) and Dustin Shirley (Dartmouth) to give the 'Cats an early 2-0 lead.   Plymouth scored the game's next

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - A night after rallying for a victory in the ninth inning, the North Adams SteepleCats had to hold on for a second victory in the game's final frame.   Early timely hitting proved to be the difference as the SteepleCats moved to 2-0 with a 5-3 victory over the Keene Swamp Bats Thursday night at Joe Wolfe Field.   North Adams scored each of the game's first five runs, beginning with one in the bottom  of the first. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The North Adams SteepleCats finally broke through for their first runs of the season in the bottom of the ninth inning on Wednesday night, walking off on the Sanford Mainers via a two-run single from JJ Shimko.   The 'Cats had threatened for most of the night, but it was the South Carolina-Upstate outfielder that came through with the biggest hit of the night at Joe Wolfe Field.   The scoring had been limited to the top of the first inning, when Riley Pittman cleared the right field fence for a solo homer with two outs. Pittman's roundtripper was one of only four hits for the visiting Mainers, and was the only extra base hit in the
