NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — "Running with The Law" returned to the streets this past weekend with runs planned every Saturday up to a community road race planned for June.

Last fall, it was hard to miss North Adams Police officers running downtown with an entourage of nearly 20 elementary school students.

This same program, Running with The Law, returned Saturday for the spring session with a 5-kilometer road race planned for Saturday, June 11, to benefit Pop Cares, a non-profit organization that supports local cancer patients.

"We are kind of doing a spinoff of what we do with the Running with Law program. We are going to do a 5K and kind of get the whole community

And Barrett has not missed a beat.

She scored two goals on Saturday as Westfield State defeated Framingham, 17-4, in the Owls’ regular season finale. For the year, she has eight goals and six assists despite missing the team’s preseason training due to the extended basketball season.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Their enthusiasm more than made up for their lack of bucket skills when it came to fish stocking.

A few times they dropped the fish on the lawn, sometimes on the beach but most often in the water.

Several times they nearly dumped the trout on themselves and once had MassWildlife officials ducking as the foot-long fish came squarely at their heads.

The trout seemed to take it in stride.

"They'll be fine," said Andrew Madden, Western District manager of Division of Fisheries & Wildlife, as he tossed an errant trout into Windsor Lake. "They're tough fish."

The city's entire fourth-grade class turned out for the fish

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Olivia Carlson understands the value of a strong community.   Last fall, when her mother, Patricia, died after a long battle with cancer, the Drury High School senior drew comfort and support from her family, her friends at school and a larger community that included some supposed rivals.   "When the funeral came, I got cards from Lee High School's athletic department, the Lenox basketball team, they just kept coming," Carlson recalled this week. "When we played Wahconah, the Wahconah coach gave me a bouquet of flowers before the game. She was just like, 'We want you to know that we're one big basketball
